insurance valuations

We carry out valuations for insurance purposes ranging from household contents, to single items or small collections.  We will discuss your specific requirements to produce a report that meets your needs, and the criteria set by your insurance company.

The majority of leading insurance companies require a regularly updated insurance valuation in line with market fluctuations in values. We advise clients to ensure that their art, jewellery, and antiques valuations are kept up to date to ensure that, in the unfortunate event of a claim, adequate compensation is made.

A regularly updated valuation will ensure your policy reflects accurate insurance premiums and facilitate the settlement of any claims.

Our fees are calculated on an hourly basis as with our probate services. A set fee can be agreed for single items.

Our report takes the form of an inventory. It is easy to follow, with each item listed on a room-by-room basis. Every entry, where appropriate, has a full description with measurements, a supporting photograph and valuer’s notes. Insurance values accompany every listed item, with the report ending by way of a summary and a statement of the collection’s total value for insurance purposes.

inventory services

Jewellery often holds deep sentimental and financial value, making it essential to keep track of your collection. Creating and maintaining a jewellery inventory is a simple yet valuable step in protecting your possessions. Whether for insurance, security, or estate planning, having a well-documented record gives you peace of mind.

The Benefits of a Jewellery Inventory

Simpler Insurance Claims
If your jewellery is lost, stolen, or damaged, an inventory provides clear documentation for your insurer. Having detailed descriptions, photos, and valuations can speed up the claims process and ensure proper compensation.

Accurate Valuation & Coverage
An inventory helps determine whether your current insurance coverage is adequate. Without it, you may underestimate the value of your collection, leaving you underinsured in case of loss.

Simplified Estate Planning
For those who wish to pass down jewellery as an inheritance, an inventory ensures clarity on what pieces exist and their values. This can help avoid family disputes and make distribution easier.

Protection Against Theft
Should your jewellery be stolen, an inventory provides police with detailed information to aid recovery efforts. Serial numbers, photos, and descriptions increase the chances of getting your items back.

Efficient Organisation
A well-maintained jewellery inventory prevents misplaced or forgotten pieces. It allows you to track ownership, purchases, and maintenance records efficiently.

estate planning for your jewellery:

Preserving your legacy

Your jewellery tells a story—one of love, milestones, and personal style. Estate planning ensures that these cherished pieces are passed on according to your wishes, making the process smooth for your loved ones.

A well-documented jewellery estate plan helps:

Avoid Disputes
Clearly outlining who inherits each piece prevents misunderstandings.

Ensure Fair Distribution
Whether dividing by sentimental or financial value, planning helps balance fairness.

Simplify Legal & Tax Matters
Proper documentation makes estate administration easier and more efficient.

By taking the time to inventory and plan for your jewellery, you’re preserving not just valuable assets, but the memories and meaning behind them.
